On the 15th November 2019 we had to face the moment we had known was coming, when our darling Mum / Nan reached the end of her Alzheimers journey. Mum had lived a long and happy life - even when her Alzheimers took hold, she was still funny, loving, courageous and stubborn, due in enormous part to the specialist care and love she had at Admiral Court and of course her endlessly indomitable spirit. We have so many special memories of her and know how lucky and blessed we were to have had such a fabulous Mum / Nan.
We learnt so much about the condition and had such great support from Alzheimers Society when Mum was first diagnosed in 2014 - but what many people still don't realise is that this is a terminal condition - the only cause of death stated for Mum - for which there is currently no effective treatment and no cure.
And that'a why on 7 March Team Dotty will be pulling on their walking shoes and their glow sticks to raise money to help fund the support provided by Alzheimers Society and the research which will one day find a way to stop Alzheimers in other dementia in their tracks.
Thank you for reading our story - and thank you so much for sponsoring us.
