I originally planned to run this race as a challenge for myself, for fun, and motivation to keep fit... I then realised I could, like many members of my family have done before me, raise money for the Alzheimer's Society who do so much to care for people with Alzheimer's, like my Nannie.
She used to pick me up from school, put my guitar in her little tartan trolley, and take me to the sweetie shop over the road. She used to fall asleep on the sofa in the afternoons when I'd wait for my Mum to come home from work. And she always had a stock pile of Salt and Vinegar Walkers Crisps. I will never forget her.
Nan passed away on 15th November 2019, a week before her 88th Birthday. She lived a long and happy life, even when her Alzheimer's was at it's most advanced, and I can think of no better way to honour her memory, than to run this race.
Please donate any amount you can, and follow my journey on Instagram @nickrunsfar where I'm posting videos every step of the way. Thank you.
